Superior Software Posters

Post by blackwitch »

Hi all.

Does anyone remember sending off for posters by Superior Software.

They were Crazee Rider, Codename Droid and Palace of Magic and Ravenskull.

I'm looking for the Codename Droid poster but can't find one anywhere.

They were printed by Impact posters in Sheffield.

Not the poster, but the advert itself, if that helps. :)

Here's the link to a decent scan of the A4 POS poster for Crazee Rider if you don't have it already.

Having discovered my then flat was within ten minutes' walk of it, one of the very first things I did when moving to Sheffield in mid-2010 was to amble over to have a look at the outside of Neepsend House, Percy Street, Sheffield, home of Impact Games (nee Impact Posters).

A thoroughly unremarkable-looking place at the time, but part of the ever-increasing craft beer- and food-led regeneration of that part of the city since then, possibly helped on in its case by the presence of the Sheffield Brewery (est. 2006) just round the corner.

From Impact to IPA, or posters to porter, in one easy step, then. :-)

I wrote that address on so many envelopes! I used to correspond with Steve and Mark Botterill a lot back in the day as I bought loads of stuff from Impact Games/Impact Posters - they were always very kind to me. I've got some letters in England they sent me about designing Repton levels.

Hi Arcadian, when I click your link above it says I don’t have access to the posters. Can you share them again? Cheers.

That's because the thread's been removed - I would think because they're no longer available (the post was from 3.5 years ago).

Hi, I still have plenty of posters left but I don't have time to pack/post stuff out at the moment, hence my 'hiding' the old sales thread.

If the situation changes I'll post on the forum.

I love my Crazee Rider poster!

Really would like a matching Galaforce one.

I did actually get the Galaforce artwork vectorised during the lockdown when I was bored (see piccie).

As it's effectively a line drawing, there's less texturing than on the original art, but it doesn't look too bad I suppose.

The original art appears to be square so bear in mind that's not a typical landscape/portrait poster.

But I've just formatted it ready for print, at 16 x 16 inches (as that's a commonly-available picture frame size) and the height would be about the same height as the Crazee Rider poster (about 16.5 inches) so it should look good displayed alongside that.

Anyway, what do you think Kevin - worth getting printed?

Hi Dave,

It looks really great! I remember you sent me the image a while ago.

I would love a print if you do decide to go ahead.

Thanks!
