I've added "Chasm" to the Dropbox folder. Decelerator is a utility to slow the machine down and Sponge generates 3D fractal sponge graphics, so I haven't scanned those.

Edit: June 1987's "Solitaire" is a program which lets you set up a solitaire board (the game with a round board containing a grid of pegs, I think - not the card-based "patience" solitaire) and will solve it automatically. This probably doesn't count as a game, but I can scan it if you're interested.

Cheers Steve
I would say Solitaire is low priority.
I will ask lurkio for his opinion, but I don't think "solvers" count...
I will type Chasm in 😊

Gah! lurkio is of the opinion that we should stick Solitaire on bbcmicro.co.uk.
So whenever you get time to photo it.... no rush!
There should only then be "logic" to look at, which may also not be a game.
I will then be able to declare all games from PCW typed in and archived on bbcmicro.co.uk.
*Unless anybody knows different...*

It should be on Dropbox now; as always let me know if you need any pages re-doing.

I don't have this one, at least if it's correct that it's in the August 1988 issue. If it's in some other issue and I'm confused please let me know...

Cheers Steve,
I have grabbed Solitaire.
Your work here is done! :D

So, if anyone has PCW August 1988 issue, would you mind seeing if "LOGIC" is a game please.
Thanks,

Re: Missing Magazines from the 80s

Hi there,

I have been looking for a scanned version of Personal Software Vol. 1 No. 1 Summer 1982.
I have the physical magazine and tried scanning it once but I wasn't happy with the resulting quality. Some of the characters in the listings were illegible.

Does anyone know where there is a PDF? I'll have a go at scanning it again if the answer is no, and spend some time checking scan quality settings first.

Thanks.

Thanks for locating those.
It appears vol.1 issue 1 isn't there after all.
I don't have it either.
I have definitely seen it online somewhere as I have typed all the programs in...

Thanks Lee and hoglet for looking.

I have found most of the other issues at World of Spectrum, but not vol 1 no 1. I am away from home at the moment but will get on to rescanning my copy when I’m back next week

Hi Artemis,
If you get round to scanning this magazine I would love a copy so I may check the type-in listings against the ones we have on bbcmicro.co.uk 😊

Hi Lee, no problem. I have rescanned and then processed the page images to 200dpi to keep the file size down. It's 75MB so too big to upload to the forum.

I will send you a download link in a PM, if anyone else would like the link please let me know.

Kind regards

Does anyone have Computing Today September 1985
Or
Which Micro & Software Review December 1984?

I have the previous issue in both cases and have typed in the first half a game from each one...
Part 3 of Cribbage awaits me in Computing Today Sept 85
And
Part 2 of Treasure Hunt awaits me in Which Micro December 84.

Can anyone help?

Lee.

Do you still have the August 1985 issue, Lee? That one is MIA.

All being well, I am going down to the museum at Cambridge next month to return/drop off some stuff and , hopefully, to scan September 1985 Computing Today whilst I am there. Watch this space!

Hi John,
No I don't have it.
Actually, I have made a slight error. #-o
Part 1 of Cribbage is in Computing Today July 1985.
Part 2 of Cribbage is in Computing Today August 1985.
I have scans of just these Cribbage articles but not the whole magazines.
(I believe it was lurkio who scanned the articles for me whilst on a trip to one of the big libraries).
So, it is just SEPTEMBER 1985 that I need, for the third part of the Cribbage game.
You, of course, need July, August and September for scanning.
**EDIT: Listing now typed in**

Hi John, (Or anyone else that goes to the Cambridge Computing History Museum...)

They have the following magazines that just need checking through to see if there are any BBC Micro games listings in them:

Which Micro? & Software Review June 1983: ref CH24123
Which Micro? & Software Review August 1983: ref CH24124
What Micro December 1983: ref CH22634 FOUND!
Popular Computing Weekly vol. 6 no. 13 (27th March to 2nd April 1987): ref CH23783

They also have Personal Computer World August 1988: ref CH818
**This contains a program called "Logic", but I am only interested if it is some kind of game.**
Not a game.

Lastly (and most importantly...) they have Popular Computing Weekly vol. 6 no. 19 (15th May - 21st May 1987): ref CH28678
This contains part 3 of MAGIC MAZE. I have typed parts 1 and 2 in already.

**EDIT: LISTING NOW TYPED IN **

If anyone can grab any of these mags when they are on site it would be appreciated. Even if they contain no listings I can cross them off the list...

Thanks,

Lee.

Thanks John,
Don't forget, the first 4 above just need a quick look through - there may be nothing in them....
The 5th just needs the LOGIC listing checking to see if it is a game.
It's the last one that DEFINITELY has the final part of a MIA game [-o<

Does anyone have scans/pdfs/whatever of "The Home Computer Advanced Course" published by Orbis Publishing in the mid-80s? Issues 1-48 are available at the usual places but I can't find 49-96 anywhere. Thanks.

It is indeed. I am watching this with interest and hope to buy it. I only need three for my collection and this is one of them. [-o<

There may be a problem with scanning stuff at Cambridge now it has museum status - they are very protective. They are looking into my being able to scan stuff and copy discs. It is OK if they have a duplicate but if the items are one-offs then things may be too valuable to let me loose on them. :?

Looking at the contents page they are starting a three part series, so the issues could go to December 1985.

Anybody know for sure?

Just scanned the mag at Cambs. Also scanned 3rd part of that game you wanted.

The CT mag was 50 pages, that's £1.60 per page.
