Missing BBC Games HELP REQUIRED!

Post by leenew »

Hi, is Mission Alpha 3D still missing?

Also I would be interested to know more about the following:

Kon Tiki (Golem)

Any information would be useful, Is it an adventure game? Any inlay scans etc. etc.

Hi,
Yes, Mission Alpha 3D by Doctor Soft is still missing.
I believe Kon-Tiki is an educational title, and may therefore be has been crossed off the list.
The educational archive may still want to find it though!

Thanks...just for completeness I have reproduced the text from your link here (maybe I should cut and paste it to the educational archive):
KON-TIKI by J.Amos
Simulation program based on Thor Heyerdahl's KON-TIKI expedition. Enjoy a journey on the KON-TIKI, recording on a map the raft's position and entering notes in the logbook on creatures found, unusual events etc. Inclusive of booklet, background information, maps and fully supportive illustrated data sheets.
Looks like one would require all that related bumpf to use.

Cheers Dave,
I will grab them 8)

I was just looking through the list at "Software for all".
It lists "Alien Planet" as missing... Seeing as we have "Planet of the Aliens", I think I will cross this off the list.
Probably one of those occasions where they shortened the title to fit on a small advert...

Can anyone point me to an advert from "Software for All" which mentions Galaxians??

Thank you,

Lee.

Removed "Super Simon" from IJK
This is almost certainly Beeb-Beep (sometimes Beep-Beeb  ) which was advertised as "A Super Simon game".....

Could we add Torch's COMANEX interactive management game to the list please ? (it came with their Z80 2nd processor and twin disc package).
It sounds intriguing.

I think I've found a missing game to be added to the list - Attack of the Mutoids by ERCS: The Software People. See The Micro User Nov-83 p134.

Hi Fuzzel,
I have seen that advert before.
Don't know why I didn't add it to the list?
Anyway, I have added it now...

Just one part on the Electron User tape, as far as I'm aware.

Breaktime Games (Brilliant Computing c.1988). Anyone have a copy? I'd love to find it.

It's a compendium of 6 board games - Dominoes, Draughts, Chinese Checkers, Solitaire, Nim, Nine Men's Morris (old pub game). It was aimed at accessibility switch users.

Quick question, is the MIA list up to date? I've recently taken possession of several boxes of software and I'd like to see whether I could contribute missing titles to the community instead of putting them on eBay!

It would also be incredibly useful to have a list of MIA educational software (already talking to FlaxCottage about that), 'other' software, and hardware as well, although I appreciate that for the latter categories it's a pretty big area to cover!

EDIT: After I'd posted, I realised that this was literally a thread in the 'archive requests' section! Right, time to take a look at what people have been asking for!

I think the above list is pretty much up to date.
Basically, if you have anything that isn't on bbcmicro.co.uk then I would like to know about it please.

When it comes to software for specific hardware and other specialist software any list can only include what's known to be missing based upon adverts, and many weren't advertised in mainstream Acorn magazines. In general if you have something that's not a mainstream game then list it, especially original software, and ask whether it's required for dumping. Even discs full of what may seem to be common ROMs usually contain missing versions so dumps of those are appreciated too.

I can't wait to see what goodies you unearth, Vectoreyes!
On my wish list would be:

The Grange by Dobsoft - reviewed by Alice in The Micro User (Jan-84), this was described as atrocious so probably killed off any interest in it at birth so I imagine it will be hard to get a copy of. I'm intrigued though, just how bad is it?
Quest for the Golden Wombat - Foxsoft - I just like the sound of this one.
Blazing Star - Robico - Although in development and discussed in magazines bitd I think the BBC text adventure games market took a nosedive just as this was ready for release and Robico bottled it (can't blame them really). I think they switched to the Archimedes at this time.
Colossal Adventure and Adventure Quest (model A 16k versions) by Level 9 - I've got to get my mitts on these.
