I recently did a simple pixel drawing program in BASIC that uses custom character definitions with different dot patterns to represent different shades of brightness. I drew a few simple pictures using it:

This one was converted from a photo by a script:

Those are brill Patrick. Like Op Art in retro style. Fantastic. I love the dithering here. Basic is great isn't it...and so flexible.
Interesting to make art from writing programs. Hmmm you got my mind whirring

Do post some more if you do any more. I like the fact they are black and white. We are off to a good start. Well done! =D>

Thanks! Yeah BASIC is great, I find it's a lot of fun to work with.

The scripted faces look excellent. I set my web browser zoom level to 25%.

I'd like to see that script and see how it works on an Atom....

Here it is. Just to warn you, the code is a bit messy.

Thanks, I had a look at it and it seems quite clear to me. However, I noticed that you have four shades of grey in the sample pictures earlier in this topic but the Atom and BBC have only two colours in the highest resolution mode. So I'm afraid that the pictures won't be as nice as yours.

If it seems like there's more than two shades in the pictures I posted, it's probably because the resizing process added a slight blurring effect. The pictures that I posted are screenshots directly from BeebEm, in MODEs 4 and 0, with only two colours (black and white)

Fantastic pictures once again.

It would be nice to see pictures made by other members. I wonder if it would be easy to notice a difference between the styles of art drawn by one artist against another from someone else.

I expect anything I draw would look ridiculous as I don't have an easy way to draw at the moment.
Just remember kids, Beeb spelled backwards is Beeb!

If I wanted to knock a few text adventures with the occasional full colour static graphical cutscene then I know who to ask! =D> I will add that to my todo list with the hundred other things
