New version of Carnival (was: Since RetroSoftware is locked, here is an update to Carnival)

Post by tricky »

Latest version in this post https://www.stardot.org.uk/forums/viewt ... 67#p410167.

This is identical to the last update on RS with DFS and ADFS images, except that I noticed that the hsync pulse widths were wrong, which explains why I loose horizontal lock on a couple of my displays, so here is the fixed version. Only GAME has changed and only the hsync and hpos bytes.

https://www.youtube.com/v/89E_gXPKwPU&fmt=22 best watched in 1280x720p50 to get 50hz.
Unfortunately, this game triggers a beebem sound bug, so it is best played in b-em, jsbeeb or of course original hardware ;)

I've got a new capture setup so thought I would post Carnival on a real beeb with commentary.

https://youtu.be/ksdrJQiPyOc best watch in 720p on a 50Hz monitor.

I remember hacking the emulator to dump timing and register values, but I think in the end I converted a MIDI file.

Update with new loader code, redefinable keys and SWROM loading fixed.

I do have another change planned, to make sure that the "bonus" scores and maybe bullets are "fair" (less random).

A little fairer bonuses, but still fairly random!
