I risked dismantling my main setup to bring my Master with me, so I can do hardware stuff I can't do with my Compact. Currently *COMPACTing my 512M IDE drive. ;)

Backing up Arcadian's hard drive over the network. It balked at transfering the 20M DOS image, so FSplit'ing it with the maximum MTU we could manage, 320K. (That is, before somebody tripped over the power lead for the centre table....)

Luckily, after restoring the power we just restarted at part 24.

Great to have the photos - keep them coming!

Anyone got plans, vague or otherwise, for going over to the local computer museum on Sunday afternoon? Or indeed, Sunday morning?
Entrance to the museum costs £6.50 for adults and £3.50 for children - with over 40 systems that are fully hands on!

Recovering Alex's hard drive. This one needed a spell of cryonic manipulation followed by application of accelative thrust and a change of local gravity orientation.

I have one final BeebOPL kit with me. If anyone here would like it, please let me know. Unless I decide to do a third run of boards (and order a third batch of Yamaha chips) – and I have no plans to do that – this really is the final kit.
There is so much wonder in the universe; why should you want to imagine that there is more?

The Metal Cased BBC B Micro (which you may have seen in the photos earlier in this thread) from this thread has a new thread detailing it and the repair work done. The link to the new thread is here :D

I had a great time over the weekend and got a lot done!

pico, md5sum, sha256sum, mini_httpd, lua, angband compiled up for Risc iX
My A4 keyboard works again with assistance from Phil M
I had a go at writing a program using the BBC Graphics Extension Rom sprite plotting routines, it works!

Many thanks to Alex for organising, it's a great addition to the events calendar.

Alex,
thanks for organising, it was a good event. Got there about 16:00 on Friday and got home about 17:20 Sunday.
What I've learned:
Random LV-ROM fault facts
Don't open Olivetti PCs and expect an easy time
All the different types of joystick interface
Most Acorn hackers are slightly shy of very small SMD components
I always have fun at ABUGs!

Hope to see many of you again in Cambridge in May.

A great weekend! :D Thanks for organising it Alex.

I didn't exactly get much done practically - everything I attempted needed resources from back at base!! I did, however, discover that building an Aluminium Smelting plant in Clowne, Derbyshire, powered by a nuclear reactor is a recipe for losing a lot of money (courtesy of 'Aluminium' from Longman Software).

I gained a BeebOPL kit (thank you very much to Lazaruser) - perhaps I can annoy the neighbours with Beeb Rock at high volume.

Having a meet at a pub is a great idea; all that was missing was an open bar in the ABUG room.

Hopefully we'll meet again at the RISCOS Show in Wakefield, if I can get out of my meeting that day! [-o<
