ABug North 18/19/20 November 2016, Bolton
Re: ABug North 18/19/20 November 2016, Bolton
Hi Guys,
I'm currently planning to bring:
- 2015 Atom with Atom Tube
- BBC Model B with DataCentre and MMFS
- Matchbox Co Pro (x2)
- PiTubeDirect (x2)
- HDMI/VGA/SCART monitor
- Small VGA monitor
- old laptop with Ubuntu 14.04
- old laptop with Windows 7
- Xilinx programmer
- EPROM programmer and some 27256 EPROMs
- GODIL running ICE-T65
- Soldering iron and small toolkit
I was not going to bring the Atom/Beeb/Electron FPGA boards (unless anyone wants me to...)
I'm currently spending most of my time on the Co Pro Life program, so I'll probably continue with this in between talking to people and generally helping out.
Dave

Just a reminder to bring a monitor or TV with you as there are none at the venue.

Re: ABug North 18/19/20 November 2016, Bolton
I'm hoping to get there for around 12pm on Saturday, and I'll probably stay until 4pm or so. I have to go and get some new winter tyres put on my car first thing, as the worn out six year old ones on there currently threaten to throw me into the nearest hedge whenever they see anything resembling a corner. Then it's a nice (?) drive for anything up to 2 hours along the M6 to sunny Bolton.
I'm planning on bringing the following:
1. A poorly RISC PC, for Daniel to weave his magic, with a new clock chip.
2. A Beeb for Dave H, as promised.
3. A poorly Electron. When it's powered up, the relay goes 'click', but nothing else happens. Hopefully someone can diagnose what's wrong and whether it can be saved.
See you all on Saturday. I will be the scared one hiding in the corner.
Cheers
Tim

I'm pretty much packed now, just gotta do the tools.
I'm coming up Friday, should hopefully be there by mid to late afternoon M6** permitting.
** Or M1 / M62 it's swings and roundabouts from Coventry and I normally listen to the radio to see which one is more congested before setting out.
Cheers.
Phill.

I'm leaving in about an hour, just have a "good bye for now walk" with Misty. She feels there's something in the air....
It's quite busy in the air, I hope to get in Bolton in time.

Just checked in at the AirPort in Eindhoven and passed the security check. No problems because the were only for socks and two pieces of underwear in my suitcase. The rest is retro computing stuff
Now sit and wait....
Edit: leaving Eindhoven and the Netherlands in about 30 minutes.

According to Google Maps (with traffic) it will take you 54 minutes to get here from the junction of the M6 and the M56.Arcadian wrote:Right, 5hrs of motorway queuing is quite enough for one day thankuverymuch, have turned off at the M56 and will make other plans for tonight!

There is so much wonder in the universe; why should you want to imagine that there is more?
Re: ABug North 18/19/20 November 2016, Bolton
Ha after today I have trust issues with Google Maps!
Already at Chester Services now, but the plus side of tonight's diversion is that I'll at least be able to pick up a Tower PC with 5.25/3.5 drives for Phill to diagnose over the weekend!

Re: ABug North 18/19/20 November 2016, Bolton
Been there, done that (the gridlock or very slow moving traffic) about six times today so far... My travel time from the West Country was 4 and 3/4 hours! Note that this does includes a 15 min break.Arcadian wrote:Sitting in M6 gridlock...

The last bit of the M5 before it joins the M6, and various sections of the M6 were the worst bits. The M60/M61/M62 were not as bad.
I arrived in the pouring rain at approx 19:46 to find a friendly bunch of ABug enthusiasts already tinkering
