Hi all,
I'm trying to put together a list of BBC/Electron Text Adventures written using The Quill, with a view to picking a few of the best and porting them to the Atom.
Here's my list, which I'll try to update as we find more.
I'm looking for requests and/or recommendations for which ones to do first. I'm hoping this will be mostly mechanical, as I think they all use the same database format.
Dave

List of Beeb/Elk Quill Adventures for Atom Porting
Re: List of Beeb/Elk Quill Adventures for Atom Porting
Hi Dave,
I read that there are about 450 adventures written with The Quill for the ZX Spectrum. If the databases of the Spectrum and BBC versions are the same ....

Hi Dave,
If you know the database format then you can find 149 textfiles to build a Quill database here: http://www.winpaw.com/Snapshots.htm#UnPaw

Re: List of Beeb/Elk Quill Adventures for Atom Porting
Kees,
The problem is the BBC/Electron port of Quill came later, and it's database format is sufficiently different that porting is hard. AndyF has done 5 or 6, but it seems like a lot of work.
That's why I'm planning to focus on ones that already exist for the BBC and Electron.

Hi Dave,
I found the sourcefiles for VDU4024. Just assembler the sourcefile at address #xxxx and then *LOAD VDUDATA at #xxxx. All keys are working now, start VDU40 by pressing CTRL-4 and the ESCAPE.

Is this also difficult for the textfiles at WINPAW?hoglet wrote:The problem is the BBC/Electron port of Quill came later, and it's database format is sufficiently different that porting is hard. AndyF has done 5 or 6, but it seems like a lot of work.
