How many general collecters here?
How many general collecters here?
Apart from the BBC/Acorn what do you collect?
Re: How many general collecters here?
My beeb & speccy 48k/+3 are the biggest part of my collection followed by the Amiga/CD32. Have plenty of other systems eg, Atari 800xl & 2600, NES upto the more quirky C128, Phillips CDI, Sega Multi Mega & Panasonic Q

Re: How many general collecters here?
Psion PDAs. I have 3, 3a, 3mx, Siena and 5mx complete with IR modem
Z88s - one basic 32K, the other 32K plus 128K ram, plus PC-link EPROM
HP41CV and HP41CX complete with printer, barcode reader and magnetic card reader.
A range of old PCs ranging from a 486 Toshiba laptop running windows 95, a 133Mhz Pentium running DOS and Win 3.1 to a AMD 3200+ running XP. They all have different jobs to do working with my other retro computers. The Toshiba links to my Z88. The DOS machine links to my Psions and runs Pascal, Warcraft 2 and Doom. The XP machine runs Omniflop and PsiWin to link to my Acorns and Psions and custom software to read HP41 programs and write barcodes from them. It also runs Starcraft over my network.
Used to have a UK101 but it died the death and I was never able to resurrect it.

Re: How many general collecters here?
Err, how long have you got? Whoops! Did I say that I mean, I'm tired and will have to think how best to write a reply
I will say that I consider computing and electronics to be my hobby.
But I do not consider myself to simply be a collector, as I like to use my machines (even if some of them don't get used as often as I would like ).
Also I do like tinkering with the hardware...
Mark
[But my main retro computers are Beeb's, Sinclair's, Memotech's and Atari ST's.]
[Oh, okay here is a list... BBC Model B's, Master 128's (incl. a Turbo and a 512), Master Compact, Elk's, A3010, A3020, A4000, A5000, A5000+, A7000, RPC 600, RPC 700, Sinclair ZX81's, ZX Spectrum's (16K/48K/+/+2/+2B/+3), QL's, Z88, Memotech MTX's, Atari ST/STFM/STE/TT/Falcon, Psion Series 3/3a/3c, Series 5mx, Revo. I also have (but rarely use) Amstrad CPC464, CPC6128 and some Commodore Amiga's].

Re: How many general collecters here?
Great list there Mark - Atari Falcon eh? Nice.
Just thinking after reading your list that I need to update mine so here goes:
Acorn Atom Issue 1.
Acorn Atom Colour - Issue 5
Acorn BBC B x 3- 2 US versions and 1 issue 3. Also issue 7 motherboard.
Apple ][ Europlus x 2. One boxed.
Atari 800 x 3. One is boxed and kindly gifted to me by another member here.
Atari VCS
Commodore PET 2001 & 3040
Commodore VIC-20. Boxed.
Commodore SX64
Grundy NewBrain - my 2nd computer (after ZX81) kept all these years.
Heathkit ET-3400
IBM 5155
Intel iPDS-100 - interesting!
Osborne 1 - upgraded.
Psion Organiser XP
Psion Organiser 5mx
Science Fair Microcomputer Trainer -
Sinclair Spectrum x 2 - one rubber key
Sinclair ZX81
Toshiba HX-10
Limiting myself to 8-bit mostly atm as you can see.
Doesn't seem much now I've listed it... Hmmm. All takes up lots of space though.
Must get more.
Seriously want a UK101 but they seem very elusive. Was the first computer I ever used - built from a kit by my older brother. Happy days.

Richard, about the UK101...
You could build one.. http://forum.6502.org/viewtopic.php?t=1795
..or at least, the core of one.

Re: How many general collecters here?
I'm not a collector, everything I buy is for a reason but I don't throw computer gear away or sell it for next to nothing (I remember how much it all cost in the '80s). Briefly considered selling some of my Acorn stuff last weekend - fortunately saw sense before it was too late.
My list (roughly chronological):
- ZX81
- Dragon 32 (x3) & 64 - helped with my uni final year project (6809 machine code image processing).
- Sharp 1640 (I think? - programmable calculator)
- Casio FX720p (BASIC programmable data-bank calculator with 2Kib ram pack)
- Memotech RS128
- 6809 dev board - never managed to program an EPROM for this.
- Atari STFM x2 (512 & 1024 Kib)/STE (2Mib) - DTP'd all my uni assignments.
- Psion 3a (2Mib)
- Atari 800 (32Kib) bought to play Kennedy Approach (Air Traffic Control simulator).
- Toshiba 300CDT laptop (Win 95)
- Toshiba Equium laptop (Vista)
- BBC B & Master 128
- A310/A7000+/A3020
- Arduino
- Rpi (RISC OS of course).
John.
