PC BBC problems

Post by Blackjack Davy »

I've got hold of the demo version but I'm having problems with the screen layout - it's too squashed. The ReadMe.txt file that comes with it says it's possible to change the screen ratio from VGA (default) to SVGA but it doesn't seem to work - SVGA is supposed to be less, er, squashed at least thats how I read it. It seems strange that such a good emulator should have such an elementary problem.
Can anyone help? thanks

I can't help but why don't you try BeebEm. I'm new to all this and it only took me a couple of hours to work it all out. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... rassed.gif ALT=":o">

I assume you can get to the setup screen using the 'Print Scrn' key.
Click on VGA/SVGA with the mouse (top right).
The SVGA (800x600) option works fine on my Windows 98
machine but as the emulator is strictly DOS based I cannot
say how later versions of Windows will cope.

I used to use pcBBC in DOS mode on Win 95 with no problems, but when I upgraded to Win2K I could no longer use pcBBC in SVGA mode, so I guess it is indeed incompatible with more modern versions of windows.

It's a shame, because it's one of the few pieces of software I've ever actually registered.

Ah thanks it was indeed the version of Windows I was using. It refuses to display properly with Win2K, it only works properly with Win9x/Me.
The sound doesn't work either, it only works with the SoundBlaster soundcard, the only alternative is the PC's internal speaker! This is the problem with DOS based programs.
