Does anyone remember this game from the early 1990s? Does anyone have it? (sorry to keep asking for these games!)

Are you sure it was on the BBC?

From me adventuring days in the mid-90s I remember a PC game called Yellow Brick Road... or summat very similar...

yeah, definatly for the BBC, we played it at school. The first section was a kind of RPG bit, where you had to find each of the characters. In the last bit, you had a series of puzzles to solve, if you didnt solve them, or retrace your path, you got caught by the witch!
great game, would really like to play on it again. Can't remember who wrote it.
