Wow!

That is pretty cool - the historical intros are brillant - and you attention to detail with all the changed logos etc is really nice.

I can think of a few others for disk#2 - Pengo, Firetrack & Crypt Capers come to mind and I always prefered Watford Electronics version of Centipede (Crawler) which was in Mode 1.

Those were great times where the changing of one letter was enough for you to release a copy of a game!

The Train Game '91 is an official re-mix version by Acorn User of their earlier 1984 game.
Moon Raider from Micro Power is the Electron version of the game.
Frak! from Aardvark is the Electron version with the screen designer.
Mr Miner from Electron User Group is an enhanced version of the Electron User game.
City Bomber is an alternative version of the 8-Bit Software game.
Evil Invaders from Imagen is a hack of Invaders (Model B) from IJK Software.
Tarzan Boy from Alligata Software is the alternative released title for the Electron version of Tarzan.
Anarchy Zone from Atlantis Software is a hack with a much faster loading screen routine.
Chuckie Egg (Extra Colours Hack) is a hack of the original game by Rich Talbot-Watkins from 2005.
Down Fall from Big K Magazine was also released as Invasion by Beebug.
Helter Skelter from Audiogenic Software is the tape version featuring the tape loading screen.
Galaxy Wars from Bug-Byte looks like either an early release or a pre-release of the game.
Swoop from Micro Power is the Electron version of the game.

Just re-posted ALTD011 due to a slight change to the Chuckie Egg (Extra Colours Hack) where I have removed the (C) A&F 2005 and replaced it with "Upgrade by Rich Talbot-Watkins 2005. This is to avoid confusion and add a bit of clarity to what it is and when it was hacked.

Just re-posted ALTD005 due to a slight change to Pro Boxing's loading routine.
This has been changed from &100 to &400 (same as By Fair Means Or Foul) due to it causing problem if Disc Doctor ROM is fitted.

Note: The original tape had no such issues and this was simply caused by me using that location to load the files as Disc Doctor stores a variable at &130 overwriting what is there.

Although the game was also published by Computer Concepts it looks like there is one small change and that is that CARE is only 0-2 on the Superior version but 0-9 on the Computer Concepts one.

Chuckie Egg — The Sequel, which is due to be released on disc A14, has already been uploaded to bbcmicro.co.uk:

It's one of many mods for Chuckie Egg, and it offers new levels and cheats, but the extra-lives cheat doesn't seem to work..? You don't actually get any extra lives! Also, if you type in 2000 when it asks you how many lives you want, you get a very strange graphical glitch when you start playing the game (but possibly only if you start on level 1)!

It has been pointed out that there is a fault with Paradox and AltD010.

I have found the issue.
It goes back to the original disc.
There was a line in the "Paradox" file that asked if you wanted extra time and if you answered Y then it tried to load a file called "Ch't" instead of the "GAME" file. The "Ch't" file is not included on any copy of the game I could find.
Therefore, I have removed this cheat option from the game and it is now OK.

Just re-posted ALTD004.

Reports of "no room" errors on the Blue Ribbon re-release may have been caused as the main game file was slightly extended to include the "Press SPACE to give it whirl" line. To compensate, all unnecessary REMS that blank out the listing have been removed restoring TOP to the original length of the tape copy.
Hopefully this solves the issue.

Revs+ from Superior/Acornsoft features all 5 tracks and also a new track called Nurburgring by Mark Moxon and also CAS.
Lawn Tennis is an alternative version of the MBC game, again Joystick only and for 2 players, but this time from A & B Computing (1.07).
Game Magic/Mega Game by Mike Goldberg from Let's Compute! was later turned into Happy Puppy by James Cavanagh.
Bomber from Brilliant Computing was part of their Arcade Challenge package and a remixed version of the 1983 Acorn User game by Joe Telford.
Racing Car Game from RCEVH was part of their Look and Think Supplement package and a remixed version of an old Beebug game called Racer from 1982.
Backgammon from The Micro User (2.11) is simply a 1 or 2 Player Version.
Super Star Trek by Jeff Law and Allen Hill is the original version of a game that has been modified by electron.greg in 2023.
Star Soccer from IJK is another alternative of the game, this time with MODE7 instructions.
Snakes (V1) by David Griffin is the original MODE 4 version of this game. V2 uses MODE 5.
Squish from Beeb Developments User Group is an alternative version of a game from Personal Software in 1982.

Tadpole from The Electron Gamesmaster is an expanded version of their Snake game.
Bug Eyes II from Audiogenic Software Ltd is an alternative version with a different loader with scrolling text.

Hi All,
Just re-posted AltD003 as I have now been able to amend the instructions for the pre-release of Repton 2. They now state the correct number of earth sections and diamonds to collect and they also now feature the correct completed puzzle message.
Thanks to Rhys for spotting the mistake as I had originally simply ported over the released version's instructions, not noticing the difference.

Would you be interested in a version of Acornsoft Snooker that changed the colours around a bit to make it easier on the eye?

I made a few changes a long time ago and I just have to dig it out. I found the disk image so I enclose it.

I also used a utility from The Micro User to put a copy of Snooker into a ROM file, and then my friend burned a copy and I had it in my machine for quite a while. It works well from ROM. I enclose that copy too.

At one point I did make a version that also removed the restriction on aiming line length, but I haven't found that one yet. It was a bit mad. If you drew the line too long the balls would all start whizzing around the table, often potting several in one shot. It was barmy.

As I post this I realise it may be in the wrong section of the forum. No doubt someone can move it if that is the case.

I noticed after I had uploaded it that on the introduction screen it describes which BBC colour each ball is, and that's out of date. I never noticed it was wrong until now. Maybe that's trivial to alter.

Hi all,
Just re-posted AltD001 thanks to a forum member pointing out that the instructions for Electro Freddy are incorrect. Extra life at 4000 points not every 4000.

Also, re-posted AltD008 thanks to a forum member pointing out a error with the PIAS re-issue of Ghouls. It looks like someone at Superior accidentally corrupted data at &1900 in the G2 file. Luckily, the original Micro Power version contains the correct data which has now been ported over to this version.
