I'm interested in adding the Touchtech 501. The user port is already emulated for mouse and Watford Speech, isn't the Touchtech connected to RS423 though? Were there other touch screen solutions that used the user port?
For the Touchtech does anyone have an image of the firmware that runs on the 6511Q?

BBC Model B: ATPL Sidewise, Acorn Speech, 2xWatford Floppy Drives, AMX Mouse, Viglen case, BeebZIF, etc.
The Touchtec 501 is connected via the RS232 (and takes extra power from underneath but not important).
I don't have the firmware, but I know Matt Godbolt managed to get it working recently (you can see it here if you SHIFT+BREAK then use a mouse and left-click to act as the touch-screen:

There was no ROM as far as I know, the software that came with it was on tape, which I transferred to DFS disc:
There will be a ROM inside the Touchpad, and some unknown MCU, scanning the Touchpad and transmitting the serial data.

Oh right, a ROM inside the Touchpad rather than a BBC sideways ROM. Maybe one day I will be adventurous enough to take it to bits. Just separating the two halves of the polystyrene box was a pretty big risk for the likes of me.

That HD6801 in the Touchpad apparently has 2K internal ROM, so presume that's out of reach for now.
I'll have a look - I think the board above it could be difficult to remove as it wasn't clear to me how it's attached. If I can get it out, does anyone know how to read the ROM?
Here's the Microvitec Touchscreen ROM. Even though it's a TMS2516, I read it as an AMD2716 as that's all my programmer can do. However, I think it should be okay as I believe they are equivalent.

The label says v1.1.
Thanks, looks reasonable, will be fun to play with.
I don't yet have any suggestions of how to extract ROM from the HD6801.

I don't want you to damage it but maybe it clicks together somehow and need to find the clips to prise it apart.
For anyone trying to open up a Touchpad, there are two "hidden" screws in the top of the case. One is at the bottom of the hole for the stylus and the other is opposite it under the small Cumana label.
