Im thinking of game where up to 3 players / ai's take turns placing bubbles onto a board to capture the board space
I havent figured out the rules yet ! not even sure it'll be fun
game will run in a shrunken mode 1
I drew a bubble to give myself inspiration, no code written yet, nothing else to see !
Bubble Blast
Re: Bubble Blast
Sounds like it could work. Have you seen !Spots, a great little Archimedes game from back in the day, where 4 players (real or AIs) take turns placing a spot on a board, capturing the space and a number of adjacent spaces. Each level has a different shaped board, some with gaps or walls. I always thought it'd be possible to create something similar on a beeb. Can't find any videos or screenshots online, but the Archie game is available here: http://www.huggers-world.de/mops.htmllovebug wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 4:26 pm Im thinking of game where up to 3 players / ai's take turns placing bubbles onto a board to capture the board space

Re: Bubble Blast
Ahh, I'm guessing you extracted the zip under Windows, rather than from within RISC OS?
If you do this, you loose the filetype (attributes) information, so the programme and application Run files will open as text and the game won't work. It's not a ReadMe you're seeing, it's the application !Run file.
To extract the zip under RISC OS, download Sparkplug self extracting BASIC programme from here:
viewtopic.php?p=287701#p287701
Open the zip under Windows and copy Splug-RO3 into hostfs, but rename it as Splug, ffb
Run Arculator and open hostfs.
Run Splug
It will take 30 seconds or so to create a new application called !Sparkplug
This allows you to open a zip file from within RISC OS
Now close Arculator and delete !Spots from hostfs, that you created earlier.
Copy the spots.zip archive to hostfs, and rename as spots, ddc
Open Arculator and run !Sparkplug
Now open the spots archive from within RISC OS, and a window should open showing !Spots. Copy this out of the archive.
Quit !Sparkplug.
If all successful, you should now be able to run !Spots...
If that doesn't work, I probably have Spots as a .adf disc image on the computer at home, so can post it up tomorrow.
Re: Bubble Blast
oops I completely forgot about this bubble blast project
I need to revisit this
Might rename the game to poptastic
