Inflammatory 1984 Acorn advert lambasting Sinclair's reliability
Inflammatory 1984 Acorn advert lambasting Sinclair's reliability
Does anyone know which newspaper this advert was published in? Doesn't seem to be the Guardian but I thought I'd ask here before I start hunting through all the newspapers. Thank you!

not a direct answer but if you are after the paper shown in Micro Men that paper in the show had a page replaced, it's the December 11th 1984 edition of the Daily Telegraph, the front page and page 7 shown match but page 8 of the real edition isn't a full page Acorn Ad.
Electron (+1, +3, AP5)
Electron (RH +1, Pegasus)
BBC B 1770, boobip, Acorn Speech,Econet)
BBC B+ 128k (Acorn Speech)
Master 512 (ARA III, VideoNuLA, Econet)
PiTubeDirect, RGBtoHDMI, Pi1MHZ
Master Compact (Econet)
Econet: RiscPC 700 / A3020 / A3000

Well it's a start, thanks.Simon wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 2:03 am not a direct answer but if you are after the paper shown in Micro Men that paper in the show had a page replaced, it's the December 11th 1984 edition of the Daily Telegraph, the front page and page 7 shown match but page 8 of the real edition isn't a full page Acorn Ad.
I was thinking it would be in the Telegraph as Sinclair was a massive fan of Thatcher and it would feel a more personal attack reading it in that. I'll keep trawling the issues.

"With some micros, Christmas is a time for giving back". Daily Mirror, 15th December 1984, page 10.
Re: Inflammatory 1984 Acorn advert lambasting Sinclair's reliability
With some micros, Christmas is a time for giving back.
- 'One-in-four' Spectrums taken back to retailers
- What the retailers said when they looked at the Spectrum
- Sinclair 'faults' show up in systems survey
In a recent survey of 100 top retailers, two micros stood head and shoulders above the rest for reliability: Acorn’s BBC Micro and Electron.
- Waking to chips — and tears
The moral of this story is, quite simply, if you want a home computer that’s going to stay at home this Christmas, you’d better pick an Acorn.
