Sample sound to the BBC using Windows

Post by reanimate »

In the same way we have Image2BBC, is there a sound2BBC or similar?
I'd like to convert a PC wav to a file a BBC can play.
Thanks!

I wrote a simple one for single channel sound, but you'd need to do some kind of spectrum analysis to detect which notes were being played at any time. Mine just counts 0 crossings and the concerts from Hz of samples to sn periods.

Clearly more complicated than I thought.
I expected it to work in the same way as converting a PC image to the BBC but with a wav or similar file.

I looked at this before I found some code posted on hexwab at the time: Here the player is linked in the post made there, it only works on a Master though but may give you some starting points.

The encoder is here: https://github.com/maxim-zhao/pcmenc

Electron (RH +1, Pegasus)
BBC B 1770, boobip, Acorn Speech,Econet)

Master 512 (ARA III, VideoNuLA, Econet)
PiTubeDirect, RGBtoHDMI, Pi1MHZ
Master Compact (Econet)
