Flicker-free Snowvaders

Hello!

I had some fun figuring out how to fix the unfortunate flicker in Martin Hollis' Snowvaders type-in listing game, and I made a two-part video about it here:

I watched both videos and found them interesting. What would you say was the change that most contributed to removing the flicker or conversely what was the biggest cause?
