1992 Acorn Pocketbook portables in science

No idea how interesting to people, but I'm going through some magazines and resources... saw this and thought of StarDot.

It's from NCET (National Council for Educational Technology) magazine "Choosing and using portable computers" - first published in 1992 and reprinted in 1993. Preface: "It is only a matter of time before every learner and teacher who wants a portable computer will have one.".... Inside are various Tandy, RM Notebooks, the Cambridge Z88, Sharp laptops, the Olivetti Quaderno, Amstrad NC100 and more.

A good one in science labs was when I asked my chemistry partner to turn up the Bunsen gas a little. They instead fully opened the adjacent tap that had nothing connected to it. A stream of gas issued directly into the Bunsen flame and thence, alight, into my hair.

Acorn Pocket Books were pretty good data logging machines BITD. I bought a set up to show our Computing students what data logging was and how it worked. The software on the Pocket Book was very impressive and allowed some excellent experiments to be conducted with suitable sensors.
