Looking for the name of an Acorn Archimedes game

Post by edwithmj »

When I was at junior school in 1997, the Acorn that the class had came with a floppy disk with games on it. One of the games was Ladybird, a port of Ladybug that was released in Arcades, on Intellivision and on Colecovision. Another game on the disk was one where the player controlled a man that ran across the screen avoiding raindrops that slowly came down. The player just ran back and forth and got points for reaching the end and getting back to the start again. There were also blocks that could protect the player for a while but were slowly eroded by the rain drops; they were a bit like the blocks on Space Invaders.

There were also Interactive Fiction games on it as well but I forget much about them.

Can anyone shed light on this raindrops game I described please? I'd be very grateful.

Thank you for reading.

It is, thank you so much! Sorry for the late reply, I wasn't notified of a response for some reason.

Are there two versions of the game? There are videos on youtube of Maddash 2 made in 2001 but I know I played the game in 1997.

Thanks again!

The copyright string on the version that I took the screenshot from is
"Version 1.03 by HAl (c)1990"

"Original Version on the BBC by John Lord (c)abitearlier"

if that helps at all

He said he made it (probably using an emulator) and the Archimedes disk (image). There is a reference to the 90 version by HAL in the 2001 Maddash 2

Thanks for this. Why are there no references to the 1990 version anywhere online?
