Just did one involuntary extra jump near the end.

Very nice! Level 10 doesn't look quite so fearsome once you get off that evil starting left hand side.

Further findings of mine:
Levels 11 - not possible, there's just no way to get into the top left quadrant of the screen.
Level 12 - not possible - a valve located middle right is unreachable.
Level 13 - not possible - one tiny little spike on the roof ruins it.
Level 14 is do-able, as is level 15! :o

Really appalling to have such a low level of quality control on a finished product!

How are you getting into the individual levels? I can get into level 1 or 10 but don't see how to get into say 17 from the start screen.

Just a thought, does anyone have a copy of the original game? I'm wondering if the game has been corrupted? Peter is still alive and kicking, perhaps he might have some insight?

I did wonder if there had been some last minute changes, or if perhaps the game was somehow corrupting the level data. It's also possible that what we have is simply a bad copy. Saw he was up on a recent ABug video, so might be worth reaching out to see what light he can shed.

Using the inbuilt level skip option? It's the row of keys below the numbers - Q to P select levels 11-20, respectively :)

Had a fairly nice run, got to level 6 for the 7th or 8th time. I think I got through that one last time we played but with a lower score than this.

Hey Venger,

You're going to win this season....again.....so would you kindly send me the game you would like for the champion round?

Thanks very much,

A tiny increase but I can see the way forward and have time for a few more tries.

This is it for me. I couldn't manage to string it together to reach where I was aiming for. In fact I even forgot to put my name on what I realised later was my best score but just by a whisker. Must be the stress and terror, eh Ed?

That's it, the one at the top, 15 points of hard won improvement.

High Score Tables Updated for Season 19, Round 10......

The game itself is quite playable but has some glitches. As has been stated previously the shield doesn't always work right and jumping can be a bit iffy. It wasn't for me for a while until I tried to amp up my game so something isn't reading the keyboard well enough. It also has what I would call a 'fatal' bug on level 7 from what Venger and others have been saying and displaying. Other than that, this could have been a top game.

We do have a winner and that is Venger . This game was hotly contested until level 7 got in the way. =D> =D> =D>

On a side note I'd like to thank all those who played this round. We had 10 playing this game this round so.....Thank you!!! It seems we are mostly averaging out at 11 so this participation is a bit below average.

As usual please check to ensure I've not missed anyone's scores because it's easy to miss things on this and I really don't want to do that for anyone's hard earned score.

Ed, my high score was only 13135. I was wondering where you'd pulled the other number from but it seems you took it from one of the screenshots I posted of my save state progress. Sorry for the confusion, but I do adhere to the rules, and always post my score and screenshot (where appropriate). But, to avoid probs in the future, I'll obscure the score in any non-valid screenies that I post :)
MatthewThompson wrote: Mon Feb 13, 2023 7:36 amI have also seen extra valves appear when you 'collect' one it doesn't actually disappear
I just saw this too! Was having "one more for the road" and it happened to me on level 2. Picked up the valve down in the bottom left area and the pickup noise was heard but there was another valve right there. So I picked that up too but, when I came to drop through the exit, it killed me off!

I think this one became less like a high score challenge, and more a case of "who can report the most bugs" 😂

Congrats to Venger, who must've earned his top spot ten times over this round!

Thanks CyberShark, the corrections have been made though it made little difference in the overall standings. Thanks for your honesty.......:-)

Cheers, Cybershark. It was just a shame Hunkidory was so bugged as it was quite an enjoyable game. I've picked another Peter Scott game for the Championship round, so we'll see how that goes.

Yes, good sleuthing Venger. I agree it was very buggy, especially as you guys were saying the 7th level. The thing was, last time I won this one with 27k+ and so never got onto the 7th level as far as I know.....and certainly didn't this time.....kept running out of time so we never encountered that bug.

It happened to me more than once. I think there is some kind of logic bug that can't do two things at once. It feels almost as if there is something that runs a routine to draw the game, then when anything happens, it drops out of the drawing routine, returning some kind of status value set for it run another bit o'code and then jump back into the game loop, depending on what that status was. So, if two things happen together, only one of the status events will be run, leading to the type of problem we have encountered.

Just thinking, BITD it was frowned upon to write games for Computer Science projects, yet, in my view, gaming is one of the most demanding applications for a computer to run and one of the hardest applications for a programmer to design and code.

P.S. well done Venger - you love Peter's games

Was going to post this if I got another high score but never got there in the end, anyway here is a screenshot of me completing the first level without killing any of the baddies just to see if it was possible, interestingly the score was a lot lower than just blasting through at full speed killing anything in my way, the kill score plus time bonus works out better the faster you go.

I like a platformer and I like a good arcade adventure. Unfortunately, not all of them have a scoring system suitable for the HSC :( . As I've probably mentioned, I would love to play games like Citadel but I know more than one person would get 99 points. I suppose we could use a hybrid scoring system of energy at completion multiplied by points scored for anyone who completed it though... Hmm...

Peter's games are usually pretty good to be fair (although we have found out that they can be a bit buggy!).
