Book of Listings / Second Book of Listings

Post by maniacminer »

As I had these in my "library" and fancied a PDF version I scanned them with my latest gadget a CZUR ET24 Pro. I don't see them anywhere, so where does one upload book scans of Beeb related stuff these days? I laboriously scanned and OCR'd "The BBC Microcomputer in Science Teaching" using a flat bed scanner  and that was uploaded to the Flax Cottage website. Maybe he might want these as well, I know there are disc images of the software to go with them, preventing all that type-in-rage

I'd be happy to host these books. :D

How was the CZUR24? I tried the CZUR18 a while back and found it a sexy toy but useless for archiving due to low resolution and buggy software.

The books are now hosted at www.flaxcottage.com

Anyone got the discs of programs to go with them or do I have a lot of typing to do. Ha ha! (I haven't done a Google search for the discs yet. It is too hot! )

It's around 300dpi, good enough to read books with, I guess archival folk want 600dpi 48 bit colour (or 16 bit greyscale) the software is strange and buggy, but it hasn't caused me to lose anything, so that's ok. There's no Linux driver and it doesn't work in Windows 11, I have Mac and Windows 10 - the Windows version is smoothest (despite M1 Max) The shipping was a comedy, CZUR told me it was shipped, tracking showed nothing apart from that UPS had given the shipper a number (but they hadn't received the package) then it "suddenly" appeared 10 weeks later - I think Xuanzang was carrying it on his back from the PRC...

I have found the disc images. The Book of Listings -
The Book of Listings.ssd
(85 KiB) Downloaded 40 times
and The Second Book of Listings -
The Second Book of Listings.ssd
(110 KiB) Downloaded 38 times
- I have updated the boot menu to be more in keeping with the first book.

I typed these in and made these versions for bbcmicro.co.uk a year or 2 back.

There seems to be a few more titles on my version?

Lee.

Yes, the "user expanded" versions are not there in Book 2, in book 1 there's a sub-menu for the extra graphics program listings that were at the end of the book.
