trouble with tiff images of scans

Post by nicolagiacobbe »

Hello,
It has been a few months that I got some scans of acorn-related articles on various magazines. The problem is that among them there is a bunch of tiff images that I have bit troubles displaying and converting.
Seems that the .TIFF format wasn't exactly an iron-clad stardard and so many different variations arise. Have you meet such a problem before and know how to solve it?
I am attaching a couple of images in the hope that someone could be able to convert them.

Not sure what was wrong with them, but an old copy of GraphicConverter 10 for Mac was able to open the files when nothing else I tried could.

You can view / save online here

https://products.aspose.app/imaging/image-view/tiff

It mentions about signing in, but I was able to view and save without having to do that

Excellent. Thanks to both lurkio and acorndave, at least there is some solution that could be found.
I was going mad and starting to believe that the whole lot (in the ballpark of the hundred scans) could have gone haywire.

@lurkio: could you please tell me some more detail of the GraphicConverter you used, f.e. the date, the OS it needs and the memory requested. I could try to set up a VM to have it run inside. BTW: just for a test, I was wondering if could you convert the images in some other format (i.e. PNG or JPEG), please. I cannot still open the ones you sent back

@acorndave: seems a good solution also, I will have to check if they do batch processing.

Did you unzip them first? They are zipped.

You are right, I just removed the zip suffix and went on. Now I can convert them, thanks.
