New adventure game: The Job

Post by fredrikr »

I released a small adventure game for several platforms. The Acorn port uses SteveFs excellent Ozmoo port ( https://zornslemma.github.io/ozmoo.html ) and can be played on a BBC B, B+ or Master or Acorn Electron.

The playing time is probably 1-2 hours. The game has a built-in hint menu which gives vague clues at first and then less vague, not forcing you to see more than necessary.

Get the game at https://fredrikr.itch.io/the-job

great, glad to see a version of Z for 8bit acorn being developed.
How much memory can you use at maximum (I suppose for mode 7 screens)? And (much more important) could it play Zork on the BBC B?

Yes, it can run Zork, and much more besides! Acorn Ozmoo will use any available Sideways RAM, Shadow RAM, and Second Processor RAM. It will also use virtual memory on disc. It’s a modern miracle! Huge kudos to Fredrik and SteveF!

FWIW, I'd love to see a few more ratings of the game on IFDB ( https://ifdb.org/viewgame?id=g5rflxpmycdl67ps ), from people who have played the game, no matter how good the ratings are. Really.

Thanks for posting that, Fredrik.

A couple of people wrote some kind words about my (unfinished) submission, I really must get round to finishing it!

You should, yes! I enjoyed it, even though I didn't get very far.
