The main user guide has already been done (see this thread)
I would only need the text to speech booklet.

Sounds doable, I should be able to put a PDF together pretty quickly.

If it's a DOS program then you could use Dosbox to run it.

Hi Paul,
have you got anywhere in creating useable files for the software you archived? [-o<

Sorry for the delay. Its the busiest time at work, and as noted, I've not been able to catch up on these bits. I've even got another 4 hours of work before I get to look at this. But I'll try to get to it after or tomorrow.

Cheers!

Did you get the CH18668 Signwriter archived?
I've just done a searchable PDF of the manual for it and would like to re-unite it with the software

Did " CH33145 System 3 6809: FLEX discs? " ever get archived or is it available somewhere else?

Pernod wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2019 12:00 pm Here's my final wishlist of items I'd like to archive (with Phill's assistance) this weekend:
Hardware:
CH33145 System 3 6809: FLEX discs?
CH16709 Torch Model No.301
CH42476 Solidisk PC-Plus
CH51453 BarryBox (internal photos only)
CH49512 Acorn BBC Master Compact Prototype
CH35201 Hektor1
CH2142 Hektor2
CH43078 Hektor3

Software:
CH32460 Micro-Robotics Snap Camera EV1
CH41152 Knight Orc
CH20901 Interactvice 3D
CH18666 Wordwise Plus II
CH48607 The Nidd Valley Illustrator
CH30794 Diagram
CH42851 Diagram-II
CH30983 Icon-Art-Master
CH42848 PCB
CH18676 The Artist
CH38188 The Publisher
CH21226 Novacad
CH21273 TechnoCAD
CH15388 Windomatic
CH18668 Signwriter
CH26675 PCB Drafting Printing Programme

It looks like alot but the hardware should be relatively easy as some are uncased boards. I'm also hoping the majority of software is unprotected so should only be a few minutes per item. Anything protected will be noted for attention during a future session.
[-X if it ain't broke don't fix it

Was it definitely searched for at the event though?

If my memory serves me correctly, the museum received the request for cassettes in good time and were able to bring them all down (Paul Emmerton was able to successfully dump the lot I believe).

But though Nigel raised his requests well in advance, they weren't forwarded until the last minute, and the museum staff were too busy over the weekend to go trawling through their archive boxes (which is perfectly understandable).

I grovelled a bit to Jason and he said he could send a guy up to get *one* package from the list - so I requested the elusive Knight Orc which, thankfully, we were able to identify as actually being for the BBC and were able to recover.

Perhaps the discs were searched for at a later date I don't know, but that's my account of what went on from a preservation standpoint over the weekend ...

The System 3 that is at the museum is described at http://chrisacorns.computinghistory.org ... stem3.html, which mentions that it came with discs. The museum catalogue has no mention of the discs so all we did was request the System 3 hoping the discs would come with it, they didn't. We don't know what happened to them or even if the museum ever had them.

Is there a "skeleton" staff at the museum at the moment?
It would be really helpful to be able to get some of the last missing magazines crossed off the list.
There are a couple that I know contain MIA listings.

Yes, for example the listings for Tiny Compiled BASIC (TCB) by DJ Pilling in the May and June 1985 issues of Your Computer magazine:

I know, but the listings for Tiny Compiled BASIC (TCB) by DJ Pilling aren't legible in the archive.org scans.

From the missing magazines list, these are the ones that CCH have:

Computer Answers 1984 – January (listings booklet for BBC/Electron) CH49621

Computing Today 1985 – September CH24181

OWL Magazine issue 1 (supplement from Computer & Video Games June 1982) CH375

Personal Computer World 1986 – March, July, August ALL IN BOX MG101
Personal Computer World 1987 – May June BOTH IN BOX MG102
Personal Computer World 1987 – July CH636

Popular Computing Weekly 1987 – vol.6 issues 13,19,20 CH23783, 28678, and 23788

What Micro 1983 – February and December CH23207 and 22634

Which Micro & Software Review 1983 – June, August CH24123 and 24124

Your Computer 1985 – May and June CH5200 and 13767

We need:

The articles for Tiny Compiled BASIC (TCB) by DJ Pilling in the May and June 1985 issues of Your Computer magazine.
The article for the second part of MAGIC MAZE from Popular Computing Weekly vol.6 issue 19
The games articles from OWL magazine issue 1.
The listings booklet from Computer Answers Jan 84.
The article for the concluding part of CRIBBAGE from Computing Today September 1985
From Personal Computer World, we need the articles for the following:
March 1986 CHASM, July 86 DECELERATOR, August 86 SPONGE (only need them if they are games and not so much if they are utilities)
May 87 COVER UP and INTERRUPT DRIVEN BREAKOUT, June 87 SOLITAIRE, JULY 87 DROP OUT (again, if games only)

The rest of them just need looking through for any Beeb/Electron listings.

If I had them in front of me, it would be a marvellous morning's work :D
