Bug in Arrow Of Death 2

Looks like there's a bug in Arrow Of Death 2 by Brian Howarth. The bug was reported in a comment by Jonathan O at CASA:

There seems to be a problem when playing the BBC Micro version of this game under emulation (both online and using BeebEm) - when you get to the point of making the vital arrow, you are told that there is something missing despite having all the ingredients. This problem definitely did not exist in the original version, as I remember playing it through to the end on a real BBC.

Here's the bug. Compare the Beeb version with the apparently bug-free C64 version:

I'm guessing that there's only one archived BBC version of Arrow of Death 2? Do we know which release of the game is archived?

I wonder if there are any different Digital Fantasia, Molimerx, Channel 8, Adventure International versions?

I'm not sure I know the answers to all those questions, but what I can tell you is that I've tried most or all of the Beeb and Elk copies that I can find online, and they all behave in the same way -- including all the STH ones, and the one in Pernod's collection, and the ones at Everygamegoing.com, and a couple of other random downloads.

Lee wondered if the Beeb version of the game was unique, and in particular whether there were any objects added to the Beeb version that don't appear in other versions. I'm not sure, but here is a list of the object-words in the Beeb game datafile that don't appear in the CASA walkthrough (though of course some of them might be synonyms for words that do appear in the walkthrough):

Argh! Even though your solution to the making of the arrow worked, fuzzel, the walkthrough still doesn't quite win you the game on the Beeb. The final command, SHOOT XERDON, just gives "I can't do that just now!"

Any idea why?
