I don't know what you have done here!
Could you post a walkthrough?

I may have found the problem but I am unsure at this point!

I have updated to rc7.
I am unsure what you did, but whatever it was, you weren't supposed to do it!
Hopefully rc7 traps some more "stuff"...

I tried this morning - will figure it out but struggling to recreate it on RC6 again (it definitely was on RC6). I'll try again once some caffeine hits my veins.

Some feedback on the ending if I may...

I have successfully completed it now - I like it a great deal, wonderful atmosphere throughout and I also liked how you signposted how to switch the torch on and off. I spent so much of my adventure playing childhood so frustrated trying out words for torches trying to guess the author's intent that that is so welcome. I also liked the red herrings, the objects you don't have to do anything with i.e. <rot13> wnpxrg naq purrfr fnaqjvpu </rot13>

You've fixed in RC7 the unwinnable state I created in RC6 - impossible to get into the state. <rot13>lbh pna'g vafreg ebob nalzber vs lbh near'g ubyqvat vg</rot13>

Starting to have more and more respect for adventure creators back in the 80s. Having to find and fix all of these obscure bugs when they didn't have the benefit of modern save states!

Thanks Melchett,
There's a lot to go through here!
Firstly, the only file that will complete at the moment is "B" which you need to be in MASTER mode with Co-Pro which sets PAGE=&0800.
Lurkio is using his skillz to crunch the code down.
He is doing this a little at a time, as every time he alters something, it makes it harder for me to read he code fluently.
Once it is complete, and as bug free as possible, it WILL run on a standard beeb.

Right, now onto your comments on the game:

I never said I didn't like the ending :) Please don't take that from it. Been looking forward to this since the previous one.

Ah I just assumed it worked on a BBC B as RC5 and 6 did work on the BBC B mode on the BeebEm. The last few games I played at Alpha/Beta level and don't think they were packed at all. Sounds like Lurkio is working some serious magic to take it from a Master with Co-Pro to a standard Beeb. Wow.

Hi Melchett,
I have decided to leave the bit that you had difficulty finding... exactly as it is :D
As you said (paraphrasing) it doesn't need any more clues.
But, I have had second thoughts about the ending.
I am tweaking it AGAIN for added drama but *maybe* a little more clarity (or maybe not  )

Hi,
Re-tweaked the ending again!
Try to clear your mind and get to the end-game.
go through into the control room.
I have re-coloured the warning in red
Then see what you think of the slight tweaks.....

Thank you to all my testers.
I have updated the FINAL version to the first post.
I hope nobody minds, but I am reserving the biggest thank you for Lurkio.
He has done some amazing work over the development of this game.
As written, it just did not fit in a standard beeb, which I had decided was important to me.
Lurkio has worked some logical gymnastics on my code, compacting it smaller and smaller.
It has nearly driven him over the edge, but the program is now beeb friendly and behaves identically to my original code.
Thank you!

Lee.
