London Show / Sat 26th October 2019

Post by helpful »

This year's RISC OS London Show, hopefully with added ABUG meetup, is taking place on Saturday 26th October 2019, at its usual venue of the St Giles Hotel, Feltham, TW14 9AD. Entrance is £5 with under 16s free, open 11am-5pm.

http://www.riscoslondonshow.co.uk/

Cost for an ABUG stand is just your entrance fee, i.e. £5. If you would like a stand reply here, or DM, or email show2019@riscoslondonshow.co.uk

If you are staying at the hotel, we have a discounted room rate this year, about 25% off including breakfast. Enter the promo code ROUGOL when booking - https://www.stgileshotels.com/hotels/un ... n/heathrow

Everyone else just come along on the day and join in the fun!

I'd like a stand please. Not exactly sure what I'll be bringing/demonstrating but I'm going to use it as motivation to get on with finishing off Doom!

Three weeks to go until this year's London Show!

The StarDot exhibitors we have so far are Tricky, RobC and Jim Russell (with his "Beeb" running RISC OS). Anyone else want a stand to show off stuff?

Everyone else come along for for the fun! Play with some robots, hear how the University of Cantabria use RISC OS in their courses, see some new games written in BBC BASIC, and a new 3D graphics library.

I was wondering if it possible to drop off some old Archive Magazine CDs, at the charity stall Tomorrow.

They usually have old magazine CDs on the stall so I suspect they'll be welcome.

Are you bringing a light gun? If not, I can probably bring mine along...

I've disk-overed a disk duplicate machine I won in a commercial auction a few years back. I managed to duplicate a hd adfs disk on it, but not a dd disk (old 800k variant). Is there any use bringing it.. thinking it might read and write those pesky protected disks?

Also found a Prisma EPROM image, which I'll upload soon / take to the show. Might be useful for the Prisma emulation project?

And this time, I've got the PRISMA 3 up and running for hands on demo..

Thanks to the organisers of the show, I had a good time, apart from making my back much worse, so that I can hardly walk now!
It was great to see Sarah, robc, flibble and his brother (I think, sorry still terrible with names), helpful and anyone else that I have forgotten.

My thanks too to the organisers. It was great to spend some time talking to tricky and Jim Russell even though I got soaked taking my kit back to the car and seem to have made my cold worse :(

There was a fair bit of interest in PiTubeDirect with quite a few people asking for software that uses it.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see as much of the rest of the show as I would have liked but the RISC OS side seemed pretty busy and I picked up a new version of the development tools to stick on my Pandaboard.

Yes please for the Prisma ROMs, we currently have v1.30 and v2.30 dumped so will be interesting to see if you have another version.

Would've liked to have seen the Prisma running, but couldn't make it unfortunately.

The videos of the show theatre talks are here - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... xXR6b9ZT0r

I particularly recommend the University of Cantabria's talk about using RISC OS to teach low level ARM coding - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AT5TnfUgxs&t=1s
