Was there a BBC release of the arcade game 1941 ? I seem to remember that you had to fly a plane on a scrolling screen through clouds and destroy other planes.

Definately no BBC release, I'm afraid.

1941
Hi Roy,

Nope, 1941 never appeared on the Beeb, and the only real "scroller through the clouds shooting planes" game worthy of the name was Space Pilot by Superior. However, this was a four-way scroller rather than a top-to-bottom-looking-down-on-things scroller like 1941, and was released a couple of years before that one even hit the arcades. Really nice game, though.

Although a different scenario, graphics, etc., I suppose that gameplay-wise Firetrack is probably as close to 1941 as the Beeb ever got. No end of level bosses or the like of which to speak, however.
