Name the game

Post by plinthman »

There was a game I used to play on the BBC computers at school many years ago. I once won a high score competition playing it at the school fayre.
It was a shoot 'em up a bit like asteroids. Can't really remember much about it but I think your ship looked a bit like the Enterprise, and you had to shoot other ships. It was in colour. Can't really remember much more about it, but if I saw it again, I'm sure I will recognise it.

Didn't Starship Command have a ship like the Enterprise at some point? It started like the Liberator from Blakes 7 then turned into the Enterprise though? Starship Command was in b/w though.

Sorry can't be much more help!

Yes, already looked at that. It is similar, but as you said Starship command is B/W. I'm not 100% sure that the ship looked like the Enterprise though, my memory is a bit hazy.

Possibly either Trek (Acorn User) or Warp-1 (Icon Software)?

Not Warp 1 - that was a strategy game rather than a shoot em up (identical to Trek II from Tynesoft).

Yes, its neither of those 2 games. The one I am looking for is a straight forward shoot 'em up with no elements of strategy or wot-not.

Have you looked at Cosmic Camouflage? That's still mostly shooting asteroids though

Could be one of many..

Starstriker and Video's Revenge (over and above those named above) come to mind...

Its not any of those unfortunately, but Deathstar is the nearest thing I've seen to it yet. It is very much like that.

Space Pilot (also by Peter Johnson) is very similar to Deathstar... but the enemies are planes and things rather than spaceships... and your ship wasn't like the enterprise (but very much like the ship in Deathstar!).

If you have some time to spare you could look at the many screenshots on this site:

http://www.beebgames.com/welcome.php

and see if you can find the game.

Good luck! :)

Nope, tried all of them. It must be a more obscure game.
