when i try to run nutcraka it just freezes when it gets to the first level

I had the same problem running Nutcraka under BeebEm (which I assume is the emulator that you're using). Unfortunately, I don't think that the emulation in BeebEm is 100% true to a BBC Micro and the game hence freezes when the first level loads. However, I have recently started using Tom Seddon's excellent ModelB emulator and Nutcraka appears to work <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :rollin --><img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"><!--EZCODE EMOTICON END--> . Give it a go...
