Re: ZP location magically changes its value

I write a value to a specific location, read it back IMMEDIATELY, and it's changed! There's NO WAY any other part of my program can be involved in that. Obviously wasn't the case here, and one would have to be quite forgetful (I could manage it!) but you could (I think?) also see this behaviour wit...

This might be because the character is re-defined - so the $ will look a bit different.

Sorry, can't answer the "what next" question but think this is why you are seeing the 1/4 circle.

Re: Buyer beware

Well, I sort of see what you mean, but on the other hand it is an auction. Whether he is selling a broken thing for 10p or £100 doesn't really matter - he's being open about that he doesn't know what state it is in and he's offering it for sale at the buyer's risk. It's up to the buyer to figure out...

Re: Repton 3 and TLR editors

Might be my memory playing tricks but wasn't there a DFS (or maybe emulator?) issue where it didn't realise you had changed the disc? So although you've told the emulator to use the new SSD, the emulator or DFS uses the cached catalogue of the original disc (hence the Not Found message - it's lookin...

Not sure the 80s and 90s count as "ancient" but people born after 2000 might disagree! I collect the books I enjoyed from BITD, including down to the same editions/covers if I can. And obviously vinyl records have made a big comeback, and also cassette tapes - but neither of those in...

Welcome, Adrian.

Threw out most of my Acornsoft boxes but went through a collecting phase a few years back and got a few (cough!) replacements.

How about starting with a specific box (if you still need to do this - sounds like a few offers to help out already.)

My school had 380Z and 480Zs - had to do my A-Level Computer Studies project on a 380Z instead of using the BBC B micros the school also had (and I was familiar with from home). My code worked and was complete but it hadn't got through to me that a lot of the marks came from the documentation rather...

DFS *COPY definitely takes as much memory as it wants: e.g. http://www.retroisle.com/others/acornbbc/OriginalDocs/Acorn_DiscSystemUG.pdf "Warning This command may overwrite the contents of memory. If you have a program or data in memory that you want to keep, save it before you use this command...

Very similar to yours, but starting with a decluttering so I can actually have space to DO things.

Mind you, last year's resolutions very similar and not much happened!

Re: Saving Elite Game on ElkSD - Electron

I can't give you the exact instructions, but some pointers. So you'd have to find the *TAPE code that haerfest mentions, and that will be - I think - 9 bytes. So the first LDA will be &A9 in hex. The JSR OSBYTE will be something like &20 &F4 &FF - 3 bytes for that instruction. You wa...
