Re: New version of PacMan (PuckMan) for the BBC Micro

Someone asked for the source, so here it is: Feel free to ask questions, but I may not remember all the answers ;) I am in the middle of recovering from an HD failure and installing windows11, which is really a lot more trouble that it is worth! I have spinning discs 20 years old that still work fin...

Re: mmbimager not working on windows 8.1 laptop

Sledgehammer solution would be too install a virtual machine, but I don't know how well MS supports them now. Afaik, VB always needs a runtime, but C++ can be compiled with the runtime statically linked, some don't do this to make the exe smaller, but I always do so that it "just works". I...

Re: RS423 to VOTRAX SPEECH SYNTH: help needed

I don't know if any blind users used the computer concept text to speech ROM and the internal speech chip but somewhere I posted a video of that working with one of the text adventures. The blind accountant that I used to help in the late 80 used an external speech box, but I can't remember which it...

Re: 3.5mm headphone jack socket for the beeb

I don't have any post numbers, but might have an eBay listing for the jack sockets, I'll check. I'll try to remember to post a pick from a better angle to show the full construction but the pictures at the start of the thread show nearly everything. The circuit board is just four holes and only ther...

I made a batch for me but decided that it took so long that I wouldn't want to sell them.
If you catch me in person, I can show it working and you could maybe twist my arm, but I don't like the idea of it not surviving the post, or more precisely someone on ebay saying that it didn't.

I think one of the emulators had an option to export vgm data, but although this may allow you to produce better quality recordings, you might still have to edit them in an ordinary audio program.

I think the nula has everything practical apart from the way you describe the apple outputting a colour until it sees a new one. I wonder if rob has room for that in the nula!

Re: Turbo MMc on Master many games crash

Some try to access the font directly which you can't do on the master.
With other file systems etc page is likely to be raised which will stop some more games from running.
The experimental set in my games menu should mostly be ok with the tube but obviously I haven't tried many!

If you set the load and run addresses to be in the beeb's memory space, you can probably leave it on.

I'd still like one :) I was wondering about trying to scrape the instructions from BBC micro.co.uk but didn't get around to i...

I did get a portable with scart a couple of months ago in a seaside charity shop, so not really saved from the tip but looking at the price ticket it probably wasn't far from it. Re: A new MENU system for MMC/Gotek

The menu is *run so it ignores page. We have seen disc doctor and other ROMs block the commands to the gotek. Either way, disabling all unnecessary ROMs might help. I'll see if I can get a beeb set up for a gotek for the show, the two I have are internal to a master and compact. I think the newer go...

It depends on the games, but most work better with digital joysticks.
Having said that joysticks weren;t that popular on the beeb and most games were designed to work with keyboard, although some have joystick options (all mine ;) except the paddle ones).
