Re: Lunar Jetman protection
Hi Rich, if I recall the Lunar Jetman protection file is 256 bytes longer is because it is encoding the interrupt which handles the multi mode screen pic during loading.

I once wrote and had published a disk protection that relied on track 81 being readable! you can't even run this in an emulator, lol.

Re: Atic Atac: dodgy version in STH archive?
Hi Kevin It's sortof true, the Nightshade first decryptor does not have the cascade (either ADC &E01,X or EOR &E01,X where page &E is the loader) so because the game loads off tape without encryption it does allow for a possible hack here, by editing the mode change LOADING thing and sav...

Re: new Nightshade hack idea
wow, Rich T-W is going to kill me for this, I just broke into the Galaforce protection with 42 bytes of software, no James Fidell emulation or breakpoints needed. I can't understand why I didn't see this before. The key is, the EOR &700,X instruction, and the fact that there's no attempt in the ...

new Nightshade hack idea
I didn't know where else to put this. leenew wrote in another thread: (about this idea I have) Leenew:Would your theory have been possible back in the 80s? Yes. Lee:Also, do you reckon it would have been possible without the knowledge that we now know about nightshade? Sortof. It doesn't require any...

Re: help required - sideways RAM emulator question
Thanks for the reply, I'm trying to write a software hack for the unspeakably hard Tapper decrypter (without emulating it!), and yes it has to be either sideways RAM or a ROM MOS modification.

help required - sideways RAM emulator question
hello, dang, I haven't posted in years! I'd like to know if it's possible to code (from the BASIC assembler) directly into sideways RAM, point the primary interrupt at your code and expect a BBC emulator to be able to run it. I realize that's a silly thing to ask, but it matters for a reason I'll re...

Re: Random game reviews!
lion, I'm sure people have told you before, but Zalaga doesn't run on a Master, most likely because it uses non-standard 6502 instructions to do things with the sprites. I think the Master uses up some of these values for its own slightly different processor?

Re: Source of Ultimate titles
I worked out that Kevin's back door is the *fx 200,3 command when the setup is run so that he could exit the routine and save the encrypted thing to tape. You can't access the encoded data using this though...

Re: Starquake swears at you
Anyway I can't really think of a better way to do it than by hand, loop by loop. What did you have in mind? If I recall (and it is over 20 years ago) it had something to do with loading the encryption and running it directly in a different screen mode. It then bombed out after decoding the little l...
