Couldnt say exactly what the best games around were in the mid 80s , but I thoroughly enjoyed playing Repton 2 and Citadel on the Electron around christmas 85 - early 86 . Loved Elite , like others have mentioned , as well as Way of the Exploding Fist , psycastria and Thunderstruck around this time ...

Citadel - fanstatic games that . Best arcade adventure on any 8 bit , back in its time

Thrust - incrdeibily addictive

Psychastria - Gary Partis's great shoot em up , uridium clone , very underated

Firetrack - Another great shoot em up !

Would like to express my condolences too . I received an Acorn Electron as a christmas present in 1984 , along with a number of Acornsoft titles . One of those was a fine conversion of asteroids - Meteors - by Neil Raine - I had many hours enjoyment playing that game .

I liked your Thunderstruck games , Peter , particularly thunderstruck 2 - nice chunky graphics (the last of the free was good too , certainly for the budget price at which it was sold !) . Aside from those , I agree that Elite , Imogen , firetrack , citadel were graphically fine as well as very play...
