Qutiri to Isinor Flight was eventful! One jump to planet - 4 asteroids followed by 4 asteroids and 1 pirate. Diso to Leesti Nothing happened on the flight. bought escape capsule, launched immediately and used it to reset my legal status in the hopes of reducing the amount of unwanted attention. Re: Elite-A, Play it again Syd

Good luck! Good to see this fresh attempt, I know how it can be - my own (technically not abandoned) effort to visit every star system in Elite has rather ground to a halt. I enjoyed your first write up anyway. Thanks. Visiting every planet sounds interesting and huge! I'm pretty sure there is a pl...

Re: Elite-A, Play it again Syd

Jump 14 - Leesti to Diso Bit of a change here. I’d been looking for a more lucrative commodity to trade in and since I’m a fugitive anyway I figured a little bit of illicit drug dealing wasn’t going to hurt anyone. Well, not me at least so why not? Bought 7 tonnes of narcotics. No problems on journ...

Leesti -Diso, Diso - Leesti

Jump 2 - Leesti to Diso. After my failure at Lave I decided to buy a Beam laser and stay away from Lave. 745 - 450 left me with 295CR, only enough for a paltry 4 tonnes of computers. I set off for Diso ready for a fight and… nothing! Straight into the station without so much as an asteroid. Sold my...

This is EASY!

As with standard Elite I’m starting at Lave but this time with a lowly unarmed Adder with only 8TC of cargo and equipment space. Rubbish! Luckily I’ve got 500 Credits so that should help start the ball rolling. I decided not to buy any weapons straight away. Space is a dangerous place but Pulse lase...

Elite-A, Play it again Syd

Back in August 2021 I began documenting my progress with Elite-A in my ‘Elite-A, the new quest’ thread which followed my ‘Quest to become Elite’ posts from way back in 2016. I didn’t get very far for a few reasons: 1 Elite-A is not easy. 2 I wanted to play on real hardware. 3 Elite-A is hard 4 Too m...

I just can't resist ab bit of Arcadians.
Very good score for my first attempt, it's possible that I won't beat this.

I use a cheap super capacitor in my master. It seems to hold enough charge for 3 months between powering on the master. If you use it more regularly than that it could be a solution.

Stardot. All day every day.
Facebook seems too random. It chooses what I see.
Discord I've used only a handful of times and never really got on with it. Not sure why as I used IRC quite a lot bitd.
Maybe my love for stardot clouds my view of the alternatives

Re: OT - How old is your everyday computer?

My most used PC is an HP prodesk 600 g1 sff i5-4570 which was launched in 2013 but I didn't buy it until a couple of years ago. I tend to upgrade every 4 to 5 years and rarely spend more than £50 though I seem to remember this machine cost me £70. I've added 8gb of ram and an SSD. It's running Linux...

Re: Evolution of BBC & Electron Games?

Two things which must be relevant are the size of the market and the amount of competition. 1. BBC/electron games sales quantities must have been far smaller than spectrum/C64 games sales so presumably less profit and therefore less money to pay for development. 2. The number of releases certainly w...

Thanks for that Tom. I've added some info from that thread to my top post. Most of the differences mentioned were cosmetic things like more colours, better sound, bigger graphics/play areas. I'm more interested in whether the games played differently as this would make them a different game rather t...

I grew up with the Electron, it's only now that I'm playing the BBC versions of games. The only difference, usually, is in the speed (the Electron versions being slower due to the limitations of the machine compared to the Beeb). I had both Killer Gorilla and Frenzy on the Electron and I don't reme...

Re: Debate about possible selection processes for attendees for ABug events

I'd had a similar thought to Beebmaster in that we should have a list of people who want to attend events and as places are offered and taken those people move to the back of the list. If they don't take a place they are kept at the front for the next event.

Re: Using function keys in TWIN on Electron in the ARM Evaluation system (Renamed from Noob Electron question)

Since they are not mentioned in the user guide perhaps the elk doesn't have that functionality.

It's been a long time since I used an elk but doesn't shift+func select lower case and turn off the caps lock light? If so maybe other combinations of shift+func are not recognised.

Or you could save to SSD image and then use a tool (like my MMB Utils ) to extract the files, complete with inf That was my initial idea but then thought beebasm must have all the information available so why not just use that. \ I can't help with the feature, but I write my own from beebasm by ass...

Beebasm feature request

I've recently restarted 6502 coding and I have a question about beebasm and .inf files. Is it possible to have beebasm automatically create an .inf file when assembling to the PC hard disk? If not would it be difficult to add this capability? I ask this as I'd like to use the ROMless serial file sys...

Thanks Chris. I'll give that a try this evening. I just arrived at work and the first thing I did was try compiling beebjit and it worked fine. The only differences were the version of gcc and that fact my home laptop is 32 bit. Has the bug crept in recently? I'm sure I had and earlier version of be...

Hey Sydney - how far did you get with your Vertical Rupture experiments? Alas, my wife scuppered any plans I had for a fun Sunday with a huge list of jobs that absolutely had to be done that day. I now seem to be suffering with a mild flu so anything I read seems to disappear into a foggy abyss as ...
