I can remember a friend having a C64 and being quite evnious of it. I had the Acorn Electron. There were tonnes more games and more of a variety. I think the Acorn computers were kings of the arcade adventure (Citadel, the mighty Exile etc.). However, despite it's failings I thought my electron was ...

Adventure solution

Now that it's the summer holidays, I am going to have some time on my hands. One of the things I want to do is complete Micro Power's Adventure (yes it's not the best adventure, but it has been bothering me since I was 8!) Has anybody completed this adventure? Is there a walkthrough somewhere? I hav...

If you are a fan of Elite then try oolite - fantastic game. Ok, advert over heh heh.

Yeah, Elite was the classic. However, Repton 2 and Citadel hold very fond memories for me. I loved the exploration element of Repton 2 and the animation in Citadel was awesome.

Thanks

Elk version of Elite was really basic - no suns, reduced ship set, no colour, no fancy docking sequence, no missions.

BBC disk version (the 'definitive' version) has missions, extra ships etc.

Mind you, the Elk version was the first version I had and the one I have to fondest memories of.

Just played a bit of Island of Secrets (thanks for the link). Very confusing (I think the book is definately needed to get anywhere). Thanks all. Oh, by the way, I'm sure there was a listing for Jam Butty in EU - I can remember the art work with a chap hitting bugs with a jam sandwich (unless that's...

Hello

Name: Gareth Williams Age: 29 Occuaption: Teacher Started of with an Electron way back in 84/85 which was mainly used for games and lasted me a good 7 or 8 years until I had my first PC. Owned a spectrum for a while, but despite being more popular, was never as good as the elk (in my eyes at least)....

I was quite bad at adventures and although Sphinx Adventure has got a reputation of being a bit crap I have fond memories of this one (first text adventure I had really played and it also came with the hint sheet that was in a sealed envelope). It was really easy to please me in 1984...

I don't know if this counts, but hey... I can remember typing in a listing from one of the Usbourne books - Island of Secrets. It had the listing throughout the book and you had to insert the correct piece of BASIC depending on what machine you had (BBC/electron, spectrum, amstrad etc). The book set...

Continuing the theme... Having been through some more games I have several others to add to the list: The Wall - another Arctic "classic" - a Hunchback ripoff that is very unplayable Adventure - I really want to like this - it' by Micropower, it should have some quality, but alas no. What ...

Gosh, what a terrible looking game lol. Referring to webwar - I remember having this for the Electron and it not working (only recently have I played it and, yup, it's rubbish) however, took it back to the shop and exchanged it for Star Drifter (which was ace).

Ta muchly

Hmm, there were a number of awful games for the old Electron - Walk the Plank (Mastertronic) a really bad version of a connect 4 style game Starmaze 2 (Mastertronic) Dull, dull, dull Licence to Kill - Nuff said Adventure (Micro/Program Power) - A bloody awful text adventure game (though if anybody h...

Hmm, quite a difficult question, not being a programmer, but nevertheless I'll give it a go (based on the Electron mind you, not the posh BBC lol). Exile - without a doubt - how this game got crammed onto the Electron is beyond me. I wish I'd played Sim City, but I'd moved onto other computers by th...

Difficult to think of original games (with the exception of Elite natch, but that's been covered). Here's my thoughts (regardless of whether they were good games or not). Bumble Bee - a nice take on the Pac-Man formula - moving walls I think that's quite original Star Force 7 - Essentially chess in ...

This game sounds a bit like Shark by ASL software. This game certainly had a forest as it's first level. Maybe this is the game you're thinking of?

Hello all, Interesting topic. Although I never owned a BBC (they were very expensive) I did own an Electron and though it to be a better machine than the Spectrum (which I later owned). I think with the Elk, as many articles have pointed out, was that it was not enough machines to meet demand one ye...
